International Notices
Customers outside of Canada are welcome to shop with us! However, there are certain restrictions or obligations, or other notices, that apply to customers in different countries. This page was last updated on 18 July 2024.
Currency
At present, all of our prices are determined in Canadian Dollars (CAD), all prices displayed in banners or other ads are in CAD, the stored value on Gift Cards is in CAD, any fixed price discounts (including Trade Credit) are set in CAD, and any displayed prices or discounts in other currencies are derived from our CAD prices. Your card issuer (or PayPal) may charge a foreign transaction fee, a markup on currency exchange, or both. In addition, if a refund is applied to your order, these fees may not be refunded by your card issuer. Consult your cardholder agreement for details.
Customers in the following Countries and Regions will see prices in a different currency:
United States - US Dollars (USD) at us.hairyt.com
Japan - Yen (JPY) at jp.hairyt.com
European Union, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Holy See (Vatican City) - Euro (EUR) at eu.hairyt.com
Switzerland, Liechtenstein - Swiss Franc (CHF) at ch.hairyt.com
Australia - Australian Dollars (AUD) at au.hairyt.com
New Zealand - New Zealand Dollars (NZD) at nz.hairyt.com
You will also pay in the currency you see if you live in these areas. Foreign Transaction Fees may still apply depending on your credit card, as our country of billing is still Canada.
Tax and Duty
Presently, all of our listed prices are exclusive of any sales tax, in accordance with Canadian custom and law. Most international shipments are currently sent "DAP/DDU" and all customers are responsible for any sales or consumption tax obligations they may have in their area, as well as any import duty that may apply. Check local laws for tax and duty rates, as well as any "de minimis" allowances that may apply (e.g. 800 USD for the US).
NEW! Customers in select countries may see tax and duty calculated at checkout. These customers will now receive their shipments without having to pay duty or import tax afterwards. This is available in the following: European Union (all 27 member states, but not their overseas territories), Kuwait, Thailand. More countries may be added in the future. This service is administered in concert with our parcel carrier FedEx, and these countries are no longer eligible for shipping with Canada Post.
We cannot accept returns for shipments refused due to nonpayment of duty.
NOTICE to customers in Colorado, USA
If tax is not collected on your order, the state of Colorado requires that a Colorado purchaser file a sales and use tax return at the end of the year. This sales and use tax is to report all taxable purchases that were not taxed and to pay the taxes associated with those purchases. The purchase is not exempt from Colorado sales or use tax merely because it is made over the Internet. Colorado home rule jurisdictions must be contacted directly to determine any tax liability under their city sales and use tax ordinances.
NOTICE to customers in Italy, South Korea, and China
You may be required to enter certain additional information at checkout, in order to facilitate clearance of your shipment at customs. The exact identity document number required varies based on the country. Our checkout will have a field for you to enter the applicable info. Check local laws.
Shipping
Shipping is offered by FedEx, Canada Post (except to the Continental US and anywhere where Duties are prepaid), and UPS. Shipping rates are automatically calculated at checkout, based on destination and order size. All products ship from our store in Toronto, ON, Canada.
For US Customers: USPS (via Canada Post) is only available for shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, US Territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands), APO/FPO, and nations in the US Compact of Free Association (Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands).
International shipments by Canada Post are fulfilled in the destination country by the destination postal service (e.g. Australia Post for Australia). The same 13-digit tracking number issued by Canada Post (e.g. LX123456789CA) is a Universal Postal Union standard, used on both ends, by both agencies.
We no longer offer Letter-post to the US or internationally through our Online Store. This service is only available on CardTrader.
Shipping Restrictions
Certain items have restrictions on where and how they are shipped, based on either distributor or manufacturer restrictions, or legal restrictions. A full and up-to-date list can be found in our Shipping Policy. While we make every effort to only display products you are allowed to buy in your country, we will still cancel orders that run afoul of our few regional export restrictions.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and other current events, certain countries have reduced or suspended service from Canada Post. In addition, Canada Post is reporting delays of up to 30 days above standard for shipments to China.
Other countries may have fewer shipping options available than usual displayed at checkout. As our shipping options are calculated directly by UPS, Canada Post, and FedEx, any service disruption for your area will automatically be reflected at checkout.
Visiting Toronto and Pickup Orders
If you know you will be visiting Toronto, you may place an order for pickup. Please make sure to bring valid Photo ID when you come to pick up your order. Note that all orders placed for pickup are subject to HST, at the Ontario rate of 13% (books and children's clothing at 5%). You are also responsible for any personal import declarations required by your country of residence.
If you are designating someone else to pick up your order, we may ask for more thorough identity verification. We reserve the right to deny any request for others to pickup your order.
